Open Space, the opener

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Thank you to everyone that braved the rain and made it out to the opener! It was an amazing turnout and I am so grateful. Big thanks to all for the great help and also for everyone, family and friends, that traveled from the city and upstate.

Thanks to my Mom and Jung for all the help with the food and wine, it looked amazing and kept people around to look at the art that much longer. The Super and Shainfu did another fantastic performance with the music and then brought the good vibes up to the Next Step party afterwards. A big thanks to Will for taking some pictures of the night and finally Dan/Kalene/Easton for showing my work in your amazing gallery!

Open Space…Getting ready for Second Saturday in Beacon!

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Open Space is a beautiful gallery, the warm exposed brick really sets off the grids in the composite pieces. The owners of the space, Dan/Kalene/Easton, have been the nicest people to work with by bringing ideas and encouragement all the time. The show opens tomorrow night from 6-9 and then check out the Next Step dance party at Piggy Bank starting at 10.

Check out some of the pics they shot while Shane and I installed the window.

Second Saturday is when the galleries have receptions and some studios are open in Beacon. Looks like lots of other great shows are going on, to get more information check out Maykr.com.

Fakies with Shane

Shane helped me create a window display for the show this weekend. He had this idea to make a mobile of Polaroids in the shape of their logo and fill the space with all these hanging ‘Fakies’, a term we coined for Polaroid sized pieces of canvass with mylar squares fixed to them. The mylar was tough to work with, but he made them look great- nice gloves! Maybe a large composite needs to be made from these…
